Kuwait Finance House (KFH) held a workshop titled “Public Relations in the Banking Sector” as part of its strategic partnership with the Public Relations Club at the Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST). The workshop explored the significant role of public relations departments within banks generally, and KFH specifically. It also addressed the tasks of public relations in educating customers and disseminating awareness through various campaigns and initiatives, such as the Diraya Campaign launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK).
KFH Executive Manager Corporate Relations and CSR, Faisal Alsurayye, stated that the workshop covered the aspects of public relations including sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR), media relations, journalistic writing, media engagement, event and social media channels management, public communication, government relations and communication with official bodies, as well as content creation such as photoshoots and montage.
He also pointed out that the workshop offered key insights into public relations, shedding light on the significant role of this function in promoting organizational success at all levels, strengthening external and internal communication in addition to supporting the institution`s strategic objectives.
Alsurayye highlighted the prominent role of KFH in educating and raising awareness among its employees and customers as part of its support for Diraya campaign. The campaign aims to promote the rights of customers and raise their awareness while informing them of the various banking services offered by the Bank. “KFH has supported the campaign by publishing educational videos, awareness messages, and informative content across all its social media channels, while also explaining the process of filing complaints and protecting customer rights,” he noted.
Students participating in the workshop expressed their appreciation for the valuable insights on the PR practices and real-life examples in banks and financial institutions. They stated that these examples enriched their understanding and contributed to informing them of the actual objectives and tasks of PR. They thanked KFH for its constant efforts in backing students’ activities and added-value events across different fields.
