Deputy GM – KFH - Mr. Yousuf Ali Al-Mailam said that construction work has commenced in Al-Deara Commercial Tower located at the 10th Commercial Area, adjacent to KFH main building. The tower comprises a 33 storied building and will be one of the largest and most significant construction projects in Kuwait.
This commercial complex copes with the new economical conditions, which the country is expected to witness as a result of the latest developments in the region. This project coincides with the government efforts to position Kuwait as a regional center for all types of trading. Achievement of this goal requires the availability of proper infrastructure for companies to conduct business.
Mr. Al-Mailam said that the project works will include landscaping of the surrounding areas. The tower overlooks Safat square in midtown and the 10th commercial area. Landscaping includes plantation, lighting and tiling works in the area surrounding the project and the adjacent open areas. This area is considered as the main commercial and business center and one of the main milestones in the city.
Mr. Al-Mailam confirmed that although the design will be unique and modern yet the building will maintain the deep-rooted cultural features, which signifies local environment. Modern construction techniques and systems will be used to satisfy the requirements of users. These buildings are known as Smart Buildings.
Al-Mailam said that the total project area will cover 9,700 sq. meters including a car park which will accommodate 370 cars approximately, commercial shops covering an area of 10.000 sq. meters and 33 storied office building covering an area of 25.000 sq. meter approximately.
He added that project works have actually started last month. Services existing in the project site are being re-routed currently, bearing in mind that the project works are expected to be completed in October 2006.
As KFH is keen to employ distinctive expertise in the management, design and execution of the project, it has entrusted the project works to Al-Mudeer Co. In its turn the said company subcontracted with local and international offices to complete the design works. Design works were entrusted to Arab Engineering Consultants Bureau in cooperation with Fentress Bradburn Architects.
Mr. Al-Mailam hoped that this unique and distinguished commercial tower, with its distinctive location and unique design, will participate in adding another artistic and architectural touch to the city. He indicated that KFH believes in the significance of its participation in the city development in accordance with the State and Municipal Council policy. Also the project copes with the distinctive construction developments, which the country is witnessing in regard to vertical buildings.
